Şenay Çağlayan

Hello, I’m Şenay Çağlayan. I was born in Istanbul in 2003. My art journey began with my interest in hip-hop culture; over time, this interest turned into permanent art where I saw the body as a field of expression. I have been tattooing professionally for three years and am currently continuing my work at Lonelight Studio in Istanbul.

My artistic practice is mainly built on micro-realism, fine line, realism, and black & grey. Sculpture forms, animal figures, nature, mythology, symbols, and linear structures are at the center of my production. Instead of sticking to a specific subject, I love adapting my own aesthetic language to different narratives. This carries me into a versatile production process where I constantly learn, transform, and discover new titles in every project.

For me, a tattoo is not just an image applied to the skin; it is a form that integrates with the body's natural anatomy. I construct my compositions according to the flow of the body, aiming to create the feeling of a custom-designed art object on the person. I believe a strong tattoo should be both an independent work of art and a timeless form that exists in harmony with the body's aesthetics.

I view tattooing as a form of expression where people can carry their aesthetic perceptions, inner worlds, and interests throughout their lives. Sometimes it represents a transformation, sometimes a personal story, and sometimes a form of silent therapy. Therefore, I handle every design as a personal, body-specific, and long-term narrative.
