İlkim Bektaş began her artistic education at a very early age with ballet. She performed on stage for approximately nine years, taking part in various shows and productions. During her middle school years, after her musical talent was discovered, she was accepted with a high scholarship to the Department of Flute at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Bilkent University, one of the most prestigious universities in Turkey, where she studied under expert instructors.
She completed both her high school and university education at Bilkent University, focusing on classical Western music. At a young age, she won a top-level first prize in a performance competition held in Ankara. Throughout her musical career, she performed in numerous orchestras, ensembles, and chamber music groups, giving concerts both domestically and internationally. During this time, she also participated in masterclasses with many internationally renowned artists in her field.
As a multidisciplinary artist, in addition to music, she created works using polymer clay and various handicraft techniques. In order to further deepen her artistic journey, she began a master's degree in music in Italy; however, as her artistic direction evolved, she chose to leave this path unfinished, returned to Turkey, and decided to pursue training in tattoo art.
She rapidly developed her work in the field of tattoo art, reflecting the knowledge and experience she had gained over many years across different artistic disciplines into her own distinctive style. She quickly drew attention, particularly with her approach based on colorful, abstract, and fluid forms. She has also worked as a guest artist in Thailand and Georgia.
In her tattoo practice, İlkim Bektaş aims to translate the sense of rhythm derived from music and movement into line and color. She approaches the body as a canvas, establishing a deep connection with it. Her work seeks to make visible an individual’s inner world, transformation, and personal story through abstract forms, color transitions, and fluid compositions.
In order to bring her art to a wider audience, İlkim Bektaş moved from Ankara to Istanbul and continues her work actively at Lonelight Studio.
