Günce Altun was introduced to the art of tattooing during her final year at science high school, a meeting that steered her interest in drawing toward a more serious path. She then turned her focus to fine arts, working on drawing, modeling, and technical illustration, before receiving foundational art and design training in the Department of Graphic Design at Dokuz Eylül University.
The foundation she built in composition, color, contrast, tone, and figure today forms a vital part of how she constructs her designs on the human body. During her university years, she also worked in tattoo studios, learning the craft step-by-step through hands-on practice. As her education progressed, she realized she was closer to traditional craftsmanship and tattooing than to digital production, ultimately channeling her entire practice into this field.
Actively tattooing for over 7 years, Günce creates works focusing on fine-line, micro-realism, and black & red styles. Fine lines, detail-oriented compositions, controlled soft shading, and a balanced use of black, gray, and red stand out in her work. Over time, the red tones she began incorporating alongside black have become one of the signature elements of her art.
Combining figurative and symbolic elements in her designs, an elegant, balanced, and detailed aesthetic forms the common thread of her work. Having spent the last four years of her career in her private studio in Izmir, Günce now continues her production in Istanbul under the roof of Lonelight Studio.
